An Employer Toolkit: Reducing Racial & Ethnic Health Disparities

The National Business Group on Health — aware of the evidence documenting racial and ethnic health disparities — launched the Health Disparities Initiative to raise awareness about the health and cost repercussions of these disparities on an increasingly diverse workforce. As a component of the Initiative, the Business Group developed — An Employer Toolkit: Reducing Racial & Ethnic Health Disparities — to provide large employers with information and practical strategies to assess and reduce racial and ethnic health disparities within their respective workforces.

"Business Case Analysis" — This analysis outlines the research documenting racial and ethnic health disparities, as well as the business case for large employers to work to reduce these disparities, and includes practical strategies that large employers may want to implement to ensure that their diverse workforces receive equal care.

"Language Barrier. Issue Brief" — This issue brief explores the health and cost challenges associated with language and communication barriers in the workforce. It also includes strategies that large employers could consider implementing to help employees surmount communication barriers.
