Pharmaceutical Council Vision
The Pharmaceutical Council is guided by the following vision:
- Employer-sponsored prescription benefits should be maintained and supported,
- Pharmaceutical care must be affordable and appropriate,
- Accuracy, quality, and cost should equal value, and
- The value of pharmaceutical spending should be defined.
Educating employers about the following issues is necessary to ensure the Council fulfills its vision:
- Best practices for optimizing value in pharmaceutical benefits,
- The role of pharmaceuticals in employers' total health care spending,
- The linkages between adherence, health and productivity,
- Practical solutions addressing future benefit design and health care management as related to pharmacy,
- Definition of the Pharmaceutical Coverage Business Case,
- Development of ROI processes that evaluate effectiveness relative to:
- Overall healthcare costs
- Impact on employee health and productivity
Ultimately, the Pharmaceutical Council's aim is to support the sustainability of employer-sponsored prescription drug benefits.
