National Leadership Committee on Consumer Directed Health Care

Objectives

  1. Establish a Corporate Leadership Forum for: a) advancing consumerism, including transparency, decision tools, personal health records and a variety of other tools that support Consumer-Directed Health Care; b) developing, enhancing and evaluating Consumer-Directed Health Plans with Health Accounts ( HSAs,HRAs,FSAs); c) any employer desiring to introduce elements of consumerism into their health plans ( e.g. quality of care, cost transparency, informed decision-making, personal health records, etc.)

  2. Strive to develop engaged consumers, including through the diffusion of critical tools such as personal health records (PHRs) and other resources that educate and support consumers as they transition to the new world of health care.

  3. Identify and share current experiences, best practices and innovative solutions with CDHC models to health care costs and quality challenges affecting all employers, employees and dependents.

  4. Provide insights, information and solutions to suppliers, vendors and policymakers to enhance consumerism across all plans and for the effective design and administration of current and evolving CDHPs and Health Accounts, including influencing service providers to accelerate development of effective products and services which will facilitate adoption and improved satisfaction among employees.

  5. Encourage/support analysis and evaluation of consumer-directed health plans and other evolving plan designs, especially as we have a growing number of plans and will have data for evaluation.

  6. Become a central, trusted source for reliable CDHP-related information, research and experience, as well research on other plan designs.

  7. Promote effective public policies.

  8. Strive to develop engaged consumers through development of effective messages that speak to consumers and address their deepest health care coverage concerns and interests.
