Kathryn E. Phillips Campbell, MPH
Manager, Center for Prevention and Health Services

Kathryn Phillips Campbell is a Manager in the Center for Prevention and Health Services at the National Business Group on Health. Kathryn has responsibility for the Center’s Maternal and Family Health Initiative and Clinical Preventive Services Translation Project. She also assists with the Center’s work in mental health and substance abuse.

Prior to joining the Business Group, Kathryn served as a Research and Evaluation Assistant for the Healthy Environments Partnership, a Community Based Participatory Research Project (CBPR) aimed at understanding the links between psychosocial stress, air-pollution, nutrition, and cardiovascular disease among inner-city residents of Detroit. She led a process evaluation of the community-based steering committee and assisted in the design and testing of research instruments. Previously, she served as a Research Associate for the Kahnawake Schools Diabetes Prevention Project (KSDPP), a community-academic partnership working to prevent Type II diabetes among First Nations peoples in Canada through education and community mobilization. Kathryn published information on the definitions and determinants of success in CBPR projects, designed and led an evaluation of the KSDPP training program, and provided recommendations for program improvements. Kathryn also served as a Policy Analyst and Public Health Educator for Women's Aid Organization (WAO), an advocacy center and shelter for battered women in Malaysia. There she conducted and published original research on post-trauma reactions of battered women and conducted a needs assessment of single mothers/domestic violence survivors for the National government.

Kathryn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Oregon and a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Michigan School of Public Health.
